March 5, 2017:
It’s been reported that the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences: “They’ll never work show again” referring to the two accountants involved in the Best Picture award fiasco.
Let me ask you this: do you think that this would have been the same if the roles had been reversed (ie. had the lady had done the actual mistake, then the company would have had blamed both of them?).
If the Academy is saying “They’ll never work show again” then they should say the same thing about the WHOLE accounting firm since it was the firm as a whole which was represented by the two accountants. Furthermore, it was the accounting firm who had found them qualified to do the job. It is not fair to say “oh, it is not the accounting firm’s fault, it is only one (or more) person’s fault”. Penalizing one is to penalize the whole accounting firm.
